Roofing website cost

How much should a roofing website cost?

The direct answer, every published band, and how to work out which one your company belongs in.

The short answer

Between $1,000 and $50,000, and the spread is real rather than sloppy. DIY builders run under $50 a month. Freelancers quote $1,000 to $3,500. Local agencies charge $2,500 to $6,000. Full custom builds start around $2,000 and pass $15,000. A research-led rebuild starts at $15,000 and reaches $50,000 or more on larger builds. Those are published ranges from vendors serving this trade, not estimates invented for this page.

Why one trade has a fiftyfold price range

Because the five bands are not selling the same thing. The first four are priced against design hours, which means the scope ends when the pages look finished. Nobody in those bands is paid to research which queries your market types, which of those queries a competitor already owns, or how a page should be structured so an answer engine can extract it. That research is the difference between a website and a lead channel, and it is the only thing that explains the top of the range.

What each band actually buys

Read the band, not the pitch.

01
Under $50 a month, DIY.

A template, a domain, and your own time. Indexed and contactable this week, with no control over structure.

02
$1,000 to $3,500, freelancer.

A competent custom-looking site, usually on a page builder, usually no query research and no schema plan.

03
$2,500 to $6,000, local agency.

Design, copy, and basic on-page SEO. The most common quote in the trade, and the band most often followed by a monthly retainer.

04
$2,000 to $15,000 and up, full custom.

Bespoke design and build. Quality varies more inside this band than between the others.

05
$15,000 to $50,000 and up, research-led rebuild.

Query research per market, an entity and schema model per page, zero JavaScript by default, and citation checks after launch.

How to place your own company on the curve

Work backwards from job value, not from a budget line. Median job value in roofing sits near $13,400. If most of your work is replacement at or above that number, and your close rate on enquiries that come to you directly is in the 50 to 70 percent band the research reports, a five-figure build pays back inside a quarter of ordinary volume. If most of your revenue is small repairs at thin margin, or your crews are already booked as far out as you want to be, the honest answer is the freelancer band, and we will say so before you spend anything.

The number the quote leaves out

Ownership costs continue after launch: hosting $10 to $100 a month, maintenance $99 to $300 a month, SSL around $60 a year, and the domain $10 to $20 a year. At the middle of those ranges that is $2,500 to $5,000 over three years. Any comparison between two quotes is meaningless until both include three years of running costs, which is often enough to reorder the list.

Questions that expose the real price

Ask these before you compare any two numbers.

01
How many pages does this quote cover, listed by type
02
Who researched the queries these pages target, and can I see that research
03
What happens to the price if we need city pages for twelve suburbs rather than three
04
Is there a monthly fee after launch, what does it include, and can I cancel it
05
Who owns the domain, hosting account, and site files at the end

What we charge, and why it is published

A Paid Discovery audit is $2,500 with a fixed scope, and it ends in a written rebuild plan that is yours whoever builds it. A rebuild starts at $15,000. Both numbers are on the pricing page rather than behind a discovery call, because a call whose purpose is to price you wastes the time of anyone the number is wrong for.
